Ginny Wroblewski has been a resident at Embrace Living Communities’ Castle Towers community for 11 years, and she’s enjoyed it immensely, especially since her building and apartment were remodeled last year.
Before moving to Castle Towers, Ginny was living with someone in the city, but they passed away, and she found herself unable to afford her rent on social security. She had a friend who worked at Embrace Living, and they recommended Ginny check it out. Ginny liked the idea because as a Chicago native, she didn’t want to move far from home and wanted the opportunities living in the suburbs provided. Castle Towers was a perfect fit.
Ginny quickly felt at home as she realized her neighbors were people who wanted to form genuine friendships and do activities together instead of staying in all the time. She started playing bingo, playing bags and working in the Castle Towers community gift shop. Since the remodeling, she’s also picked up pool, which she now plays regularly with other women in the building.
Ginny says she had an incredibly positive experience during the building’s remodeling. During that time, residents were relocated to a hotel, where Ginny had friends who lived across the street, so she was able to stay busy by visiting with them.
“It was really like a vacation,” says Ginny. “I was eating out and going to shows with my friends, and Embrace Living checked up on us, which was really nice. Anything we needed, they provided it, and it was a very good experience.”
Upon returning to Castle Towers after the remodeling had finished, Ginny loved her brand new apartment and was thankful for upgraded amenities such as new fans, countertops and stoves. She’s also thankful for the updated community areas, which now include an exercise room she utilizes.
“The main thing I loved was the new toilet paper holder,” says Ginny. “It’s moved forward, so we don’t have to stretch backward to use it. It sounds like a joke, but I just got a kick out of it when I came in for the first time!”
“Castle Towers is great because people want to live here. My life would be a lot slower if I hadn’t come here… I never thought it’d be this easy to make friends at this age, but here it’s really great. I feel very positive about it.”
